Best Atlanta Reality TV Shows

Hey ya'll! If you are looking for a weekly taste of Atlanta, reality TV shows are a great way to get a peek into what is happening in the city. Below are some of my favorite TV shows from Atlanta!

1. Chrisley Knows Best
A very Southern, crazy, funny family. Includes thick accent and slang.

2. Love & Hip Hop Atlanta
The going-ons of what it is like to be a mediocre Hip-Hop artist in Atlanta, or date one of them! LGBT friendly.

3. Real Housewives of Atlanta
Follow upper-middle class females around the city as the drink, eat, gossip, and fight with each other. Great insight into the upwardly mobile black community.

4. Say Yes To The Dress
A bridal show were future brides try on dresses.

5. Married At First Sight
Not sure why anyone wold want to be on this show, but this show is about people who get married to other unknown randoms who were selected for them by psychologist. It doesn't work out in the end!

Basic girls in Atlanta be like...

1. Mimosas and brunch at Cheesecake Factory

At least go somewhere cool for brunch like Park Tavern and enjoy the weather.

2. Shop at Ann Taylor Loft

Why are you trying to dress like a 40 year old woman?

3. Fireball shots!

Why tho?

4. Go on dates to eat ice cream or drink coffee.

Um, no. All dates should include alcohol. We are not 15 years old!

Everyone likes music, you ain't special.

6. Dates a local photographer, DJ, or musician.

The Crazy Old Lady at Intermezzo Cafe

Watch out! There is a crazy old lady that hangs out at the Intermezzo Cafe in Dunwoody that tries to pick up men in very sneak ways. This is true - I seent it with my own eyes!

Imagine Cruella de Wil (from 101 Dalmations) with a fur coat, bad plastic surgery, and dripping in fake costume jewelry. What a character, ha!

Same.

When I saw her, she walking in with 2 broken legs in temporary casts and went straight to the bar. She ordered a gin and tonic and looked for her next victim. The fake casts were obviously a ploy to get men to feel sorry for her.

Once she saw a man walk by, she would "accidentally" drop cash on the floor and ask the man to pick it up for her, striking up a conversation at the same time. After talking for 1-2 minutes, she would ask the man to buy her a drink because her drink was empty because it  "fell on the floor". Sneaky!

Then she would somehow knock her drink into the man, making it seem like he spilled the drink on her. She would complain about it and try to get them to make up for it by "giving her a ride home". Ha, this lady is crazy!

In real life.

At that point, the men would notice that she was crazy and leave.

This happened several times to different men over a couple of hours while I was there. Though the last man I saw said he was going to leave for 30 minutes, come back, and drive her home. Yo bro, i know she is crazy, but you are even worse for going home with her!

She ordered a meal to go, SAVAGE!

Atlanta Groupie Guide!

Atlanta is a headquarters for the type of women you see on reality TV - thots, groupies, chickenheads, etc. Why? Is it a stereotype? No, it’s true! Atlanta is full of groupies and it one of the worst things about going out and dating in Atlanta. You can't expect to date someone that doesn't have a couple of groupies after them (male or female)!

Groupies be like.

There are many types of groupies, but we deal mainly with the ones in the Atlanta party scene. These are the worst type because they perpetually fawn over mediocre DJs who play at "underground" parties and clubs. Tip to groupie: If you gonna be a groupie, at least be a groupie to someone with real talent and money, Jesus! For this, and other reasons, these groupies are so whack!

Groupies at the music festival.

Another reason why groupies ruin the scene is because they hype up a DJs ego even if they aren't good, making it harder for real fans of the music to be honest about how they feel about the parties they throw. For examples, they will says something like:

"omg! that party was amazing! vibesssss <3"

My boyfriend is a DJ.

So, be warned. Some ways to spot this type of groupie are:

1. Goes to parties -- alone!
2. Dances behind the DJ booth -- alone!
3. Bounces around the party talking to random people for like 2 minutes each.
4. Takes pictures of themselves and random people and the DJ without warning.
5. They walk around like they have an "amazing" outfit on, but it is not amazing. It is likely a combination of "vintage" and Forever 21.
6. They say that they are going to every party on Facebook, even if they don't go.
7. They have a crew of groupie friends.
8. They say things like "vibes" and "music is my best friend".
9. They go to music festivals.
10. They like everything on Facebook that a DJ posts.
11. Has slept with several local DJs
12. Is self-proclaimed “crazy”.

Thursday Parties in Atlanta

Hey, if you are a local you already know where to go! This is for all of our visitors, welcome! We know Atlanta can be confusing, but there are plenty of parties on Thursdays so try one of these this week.

1. Eclipse De Luna: The Dunwoody location has had a Latin/Salsa party every Thursday since I was in college (10 years ago), haha. So it is always a good choice to go there for dinner, tapas, drinks, and dancing.

2. Speakeasy: This spot is more of a loungy bar, but has a chill party every Thursday with local house/techno DJs. So if you just want to get a drink and listen to goo music, go here.

3. Opera Night Club: If you are used to partying in Las Vegas, that's the vibe you will get here. Its a super club with a big dance floor and fancy decorations. They have usually have a mix of DJs, EDM, and pop hits; but Thurday's are hip-hop nights. Outdoor patio make it cute for the summer.

Atlanta Resturant Review: Kimball House

My favorite restaurant in Atlanta is the Kimball House. Though more expensive than most restaurants, it is definitely worth trying. Even if you don't make a lot of money, you can save your coins and try it at least once in your life!

Here of some reasons why this food is something you will want to invest in:

1. The Ambiance: An authentic mix of what Atlanta offers as a city. The environment is authentic, real, nice, charming, casual, and fancy all in one. This makes it a great spot for a special date, cocktails with friends, or a fancy meal. Think, speakeasy with a modern 1920s vibe.

2. The Neighborhood: Located in Decatur, this restaurant is conveniently located by the Marta station and the center of downtown Decatur which offers a variety of other restaurants, bars, and shops to browse after or before dinner.

3. The Caviar: Wow! The first time I had caviar was here and it was the best thing I have ever eaten -- no wonder people pay so much money for fish eggs! There is a great selection and comes with amazing buttery toast. Especially known for the locally raise caviar from The University of Georgia.

4. The Drinks: Yo, these are some specialty cocktails. The ones with the big ice and real flowers - say no more! Try a cocktail with a unique combination of flavors or even Absinthe.

5. The Food: They have oysters, so get some duh! I would also recommend the beet salad, UGA caviar, beef tartar, and octopus for a complete and healthy meal. See full Kimball House menu. XOXO

Wednesday Night Parties in Atlanta

So you are in from out of town and don't know where to go on Wednesday night? It can be hard to find something to do because Atlanta isn't a 24/7 city like New York where there is something going on all the time. Usually, Monday to Wednesday nights will only have a couple of places open so the trick is just finding one. Luckily, here they are:

Tongue & Groove - Salsa/Latin & Hip Hop Party
This upscale club has been know for Latin nights for a while now, so be prepared to dance with talented partners to a mix of Batchata, Merengue, Salsa, and Hip Hop in the small room. Mixed crowd.

MJQ - Hip Hop, Soul, & Electronic Party
This underground classic venue is a staple of many ATLiens from back in the day. The venue is literally underground and dark. Great chill vibes, cheap drinks, and mixed crowd.

Prive Nightclub - Hip Hop & Rap Party
Found this gem when I was in town for the holidays and there was nothing to do. It is upscale and overpriced for drink, but a good place to go if you want to listen to Hip Hop or Rap music in Atlanta. The DJ is great, but the party gets started late. More of a place to people watch than dance as there is no where to sit unless you pay for a table.
